The Circuit of the Americas, or COTA as it is known, is one of the most prestigious tracks in all of USA and was a firm favorite for Spec Miata drivers from around the country and most the country’s top SM drivers made the pilgrimage to Texas.
Danny Steyn qualified his Rossini built and powered Spec Miata in 4th place behind Andrew Charbonneau, Jim Drago and Chris Haldeman.
In Race 1, Haldeman and Drago managed to get away, and Steyn and Charbonneau tried to work together but never managed to make it work, and the gap to the front 2 increased every lap. Eventually Drago got by Haldeman for the win, with Charbonneau 3rd and Steyn 4th.
In Race 2 Haldeman put on a clinic driving away from Drago. Steyn got caught up in a race long dice with Charbonneau and Craig Berry and this allowed Bolanos and Reynolds to catch up. All the fighting slowed them down and Steyn was never able to move forward and eventually fell back to 6th spot.
Steyn thanks his sponsors for their continued support, including ….. Mazda Motorsports, Adept Studios, Rossini Racing Engines, OPM Autosports, G-Loc Brakes, Traqmate Racing Data Systems, Traqgear Racing Innovations
